Bipasha bonds with Bengali director

Dusky beauty Bipasha Basu shares a special bond with Sudipto Chattopadhyay the director of her forthcoming film "Pankh".

Both of them hail from West Bengal and often shared Bengali delicacies on the set.

"Both used to converse in Bengali on the sets. They shared a very good friendship... Sudipto even brought Bengali food for Bipasha from home. Both used to enjoy the food" the film's publicist said.

In "Pankh" Bipasha plays the alter ego of a cross-dressed boy who fantasises about her. The film also stars debutant Maradona Rebello.

A close pal of Kareena said "Kareena is particular about her footwear. It's only YSL or Christian Louboutin for her. The slippers that she wears at home are from Hermes."

Apparently Kareena bought six pairs of slippers of same style from Hermes recently.

"Kareena likes to have same slippers in different colours" said the friend.

Bipasha's seven attempts to dub

While dubbing for Sanjay Gupta's Pankh Bipasha ended up visiting the Aradhna Studio 6 times and even then she could not finish the work.

It seemed the studio was jinxed as whenever Bipasha went there to dub she always had a sore throat and couldn't record.

After this happened around 6 times in a row dubbing was shifted to a new studio and everything went on smoothly. So finally Bipasha was able to dub on the 7th visit to a studio.

Bipasha has a very challenging role in Pankh in which she plays the alter-ego of a boy who suffers an identity crisis after being forced by her mother to act as a girl in the film industry.

It was none other than Salman Khan who gave Kareena Kapoor a piece of advice regarding her weight.

Kareena and sister Karisma were the celebrity contestants on the opening episode of Salmana's TV show ˜10 Ka Dum' on Saturday (May 30) night.

Salman was at his humorous best and kept joking with both the sisters.

Salman who has taken Aamir Khan's advice and quit drinking passed it on to Kareena who has lost a lot of weight in the recent past and now flaunts an eye-popping body.

Salman told Kareena to be careful and not lose too much weight as men prefer women with some flesh. He also said that losing too much weight affects the face and one stops looking attractive. Firebrand Kareena Kapoor looked gorgeous in a white outfit with splashes of colour at Kambakkht Ishq's first promotional event. The superstar actor spoke to StarBoxOffice about working with Akshay Kumar wearing a swimsuit again her glamorous clothes and why Saif will always be on top.

Your character in the film is called Simrita Rai. Tell us more about her.
Simrita is a feminist. She doesn't like love she doesn't like men and she doesn't like relationships. The reasons for all this are established in the film. Actually what happens to her and how and why she falls in love forms the story of Kambakkht Ishq.

This is the seventh time you are working with Akshay Kumar. How did it feel?
I love working with Akshay and feel very comfortable with him. I have known him since I was a kid. Akshay gave his first shot with Karisma in the film Deedar. I was in my school uniform when I saw him give the shot. Today I am working with him. He is one of India's biggest superstars. He feels like family to me. I am good friends with his wife Twinkle. It is great fun to work with him. He is my favourite co-star and one of the biggest superstars in India. He is India's true action hero. I want him to be at the top. All my wishes and prayers are with him.

If you want Akshay to be at the top what will happen to Saif?
Saif is at the top anyway!

How was it working with your best friend Amrita Arora?
Working with Amrita is fun. I worked with her in Golmaal Returns and it did well so I hope KI does well too.

Tell us about your look in the film.
Aki Narula has styled my look in the film. He bought the clothes which are non-filmy from Rome and Milan. There are no sequins and bling and stuff you normally see in Hindi films. The costumes are very chic understated and classy which you don't normally see. I love shoes. Everyday there were sixty pairs of shoes to choose from and I picked the best for the shot. I get lots of messages on my phone about the look. I am glad people like it.

How different is Kareena Kapoor from Simrita Rai?
Simrita Rai is a feminist I am not. Simrita is a tough nut to crack which I am not and she is very insensitive which I am not. To play characters that are very different from our true selves-that is where the fun lies.

Weren't you apprehensive about working with Sabbir Khan who is a new director?
I have always worked with new directors. Even when I worked with Imtiaz (Ali) he was a new director as Jab We Met was his second film. My faith lies in the script more than anything else. Anybody can make a good film. Sabbir has done a great job.

The film has words like ˜Bitch' and ˜Bastard' which the Censor Board had a problem with. Do you think it's justified in the film?
Definitely! It fits perfectly in the film. You will know when you see the film. We see English films all the time and the language is foul so why are we making such a big deal of the dialogues of KI.

How was it shooting in Hollywood with a Hollywood cast and crew?
I love Los Angeles and the weather was great. We had a Hollywood crew; they were very helpful. I just have one scene with Denise Richards and two with Sylvester Stallone. They are as normal as normal can get. It was amazing talking to Sylvester Stallone about movies and just sitting next to him was such an honour.

Tashan also starred you and Akshay and there was a lot of focus on your look in the film. So how was making KI different from making Tashan?
Tashan was tiring as I had to maintain a figure that sent the national economy in a tizzy. I challenged myself to do action and also changed my body type for it. Nobody expected that. KI is different. The girl needed to be more fashionable with a fuller and voluptuous figure. I wore a bikini in Tashan and have worn a swimsuit in KI. I don't know why it is such a big deal because people don't wear jeans when they go swimming. I will mould myself according to my roles.

We have heard the title song and it's great. What is your favourite song in the film?
A song in the movie has my name Bebo in it. That is my favourite.

Bebo Bebo aye Bebo Bebo! Wasn't there a song like this which was a bit hit in the discos? Here's hoping Kareena has the same luck with her new film.

News from the sets of All the Best is that after hearing the news of Tabu joining the crew Bipasha Basu demanded to know why she wasn't kept in the loop.

The Bong Bombshell is jittery as multi-heroine films like Ajnabee Race and Bachna Ae Haseeno didn't do much for her. Now she's worried that with powerhouse performer Tabu entering the cast her role might suffer.

A birdie from Goa says "Bips spoke to Ajay and told him that he can't have Tabu in the climax. Initially she was to be the main lead and now it is becoming a two-heroine project."

But we are sure when they come face-to-face the two actresses will smile and blow air kisses.

On Friday Lata Mangeshkar records a track for Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail at a studio in Andheri. The melody queen had given her nod to sing for the film starring Neil Nitin Mukesh a while back. And now she is honouring her commitment. Moreover she is singing for a Hindi film after a hiatus.

The track Daata Sun Maula Sun is being sung for the movie which takes a look at the life of prisoners. Buzz is that the makers want Mangeshkar's number to be akin to the Ae Malik Tere Bande Hum song in V Shaantaram's Do Aankhen Barah Haath which also dealt with prisoners.

Says Latadidi ''Yes I am recording for the song. I was approached by Madhur. But it is not that I am singing for a film after a while. I have been rendering tracks for regional films as well as devotional tracks. Even after my knee operation earlier this year I have been up and about at the recording studios.''

Mangeshkar had also agreed to render the track because of her old association with Neil's family. She considered his grandfather (celebrated singer Mukesh) her brother I used to call him Mukesh bhaiya (brother Mukesh) and I had suggested that he name his grandson Neil.'' She was was also with Mukesh during his last moments.

''Yes the other reason why I am singing for the Jail track is because of Neil'' she adds.

In January this year the melody queen underwent knee surgery at at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital at Pune. As she was suffering from chronic arthritis and was unable to walk properly she got her knee caps replaced. But that is hardly something that can deter her from hitting the high notes. Incidentally her sister Asha Bhosle had sung in Bhandarkar's earlier film Page 3.

Kambakkht Ishq is on the eve of release on 10th July 09. StarBoxOffice spoke to Akshay Kumar on his film and his experience working with Hollywood stars.

Finally your latest release is just around the corner. Are you happy?
I am very happy about it. ˜Kaun khush nahi hoga'. I am working continuously and almost three films are ready to release. I was not happy with the strike which seemed like it would never end. It's very good that the strike is over and now we have come to an agreement and finally our films are releasing.

You are playing the character of a stunt man- you must have had a free hand with that?
I am playing the character of Viraj Shergill a flamboyantly adventurous stuntman in Hollywood. I got an opportunity to do stunts with Superman Rambo which was great. But the film is not about stunts it's actually about the battle of the sexes. And let me tell you that the woman always wins.

Do you have an English version of KI releasing simultaneously since it features so many Hollywood biggies?
I actually don't know about it because they signed me as an actor not as a distributor or exhibitor but I will find it out and let you know. But I guess it will be right to have an English version for the international market although we haven't dubbed in English for the film.

Sabir Khan is a new director so how was it working with him? Anything you'd like to share about working with a new director?
I have always enjoyed working with new directors. And the suprising thing is I have always given hits with new directors whether it is Vipul Shah Sajid Khan or Naresh Malhotra. When I heard the concept from Sabir I saw a hunger in his eyes as new directors are always raring to go. He is very hard working with lots of new ideas. So I just agreed to do the film.

How technically different is Kambakhht Ishq from other Sajid Nadiadwala films you have done?
Starting from the beginning where it is Judwaa or Mujhse Shaadi Karogi all his films have something new to offer. I guess this is his biggest film releasing. The uniqueness of this project this time is that he has got all Hollywood actors in it.

Hollywood work culture is different from here. Did you feel the same?
They play it safe everything is carefully planned. I had to sign lots of papers before I do a stunt scene. Here its like ˜Chalo sets tayyar hai kudo gira toh nahi hai jaldi kudo dhadaam' and their they just show us that what you have to do and what safety they are giving us. Lots of things we had learnt from there as well. When I tell them about our work culture they are very shocked.

So do you think the USP of the film is your stunts?
I am just playing a stunt man character in this film they have not written the whole katha on my stunts alone.

This is the seventh time you are working with Kareena. Anything special this time?
I have taken the whole theka of the Kapoor girls almost. I have done 14 with Karishma and 7 with Kareena. So let's see how many more I can do with their kids in the near future.

Talking about Sylvester Stallone what did you pick up from him?
That man has lots to say for all his movies and everything especially about his experience. And the best thing is we shared a lot of stories in Thailand because he has shot all Rambo films in Thailand and I have lived there for quite a while. The special thing about his style of working is he used to stand with script in his hand and he would rote all his dialogues as well as all of ours. So I have learnt not to only mug your own dialogues but also that of your co-stars so that you know what the next person will say and you can help them with it.

We saw the promo in which you say that women are good for only one thing. What is it?
Ya for motherhood. Have you heard the complete dialogue? It's about motherhood I swear. (He laughs and signs of).

The two have split up because they want to focus on their burgeoning careers and have no time from their shooting schedules. Having already created a buzz with her 'no make up' look in the promos of her forthcoming venture "New York" Katrina Kaif says her character Maya in the movie is a reflection of what she is in real life.

"The first brief that I got from my director (Kabir Khan) was that 'it (the character) is the Katrina whom you have not seen in other films... She is not the one by whom you are intimidated when you see her'. I have just been myself in the film" Katrina told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

"I was told 'look at yourself the personality you have and the things you go through in real life'... Of course the situations would be different but Maya is what Katrina is off-screen. She is what I'm in real life" she added.

Asked if it was a deliberate effort to have a deglamorised look in the film she said: "When I hear the word deglamorised I think of someone who has put mud on the face and is wearing dirty clothes... It's not a deglamorised role... It's a very realistic role where I bring out what I am in reality."

Portraying her real characteristics in the movie was also a "different experience" for the 24-year-old. "It was a kind of a challenge in itself but it was the most wonderful part too" she said.

Produced and distributed by Yash Raj Films "New York" is releasing June 26 worldwide.

Apart from Katrina it stars John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh in male leads with Irrfan Khan in a pivotal role.

Set in New York the narrative spreads over nine years. It tells the story of three young friends whose lives take an unexpected turn after 9/11.

"My brief was very clear that Maya is not a Muslim and also that 9/11 attacks are only a backdrop to the film after which their (the three friends') lives change and take a turn... it's about their emotional journey in the film than anything else" she said.

The Britain-born model-turned-actress' career soared to heights after she gave four back-to-back hits in 2007 - "Namastey London" "Apne" "Partner' "Welcome" and the first hit of 2008 "Race" in which Katrina played a character with shades of grey. She continued the winning streak with the comedy "Singh Is Kinng".

Apart from honing her acting skills Katrina has also begun dubbing her movies on her own with an improved Hindi accent.

"I choose to dub on my own and make the efforts. I try to make it sound correct. Where some other artist might take three days to dub I take six days but I am trying very hard" she averred.

Katrina also denied taking Hindi classes.

"I don't think I need to take Hindi lessons."

After predominantly juggling with comedy Katrina has moved to serious roles with "New York" and Prakash Jha's "Rajneeti".

"I've just arrived at a point where I am being offered diverse films" said Katrina who was last seen in Subhash Ghai's dud "Yuvvraaj".

Her future projects include a bevy of big-budget ventures like "Blue" "De Dana Dan" and "Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani".

The actress is content with her career.

"Everything is given to us by god. All you can do is work hard towards something. I've always believed in that and have always tried staying professional and given my best. And I love criticism... you have to take it constructively and move ahead in life" she said.

Tom Cruise may not be among the Hollywood stars who are featuring in producer Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakkht Ishq but in an indirect way his presence is there.

Kangna hits Big (B) time!

Kangna Ranaut is going places. After a string of successes the actress has now signed a film with Amitabh Bachchan. They will star together in Pritish Nandy's film Actor which will be directed by Pritish's son Kushan.

Contrary to rumours Actor is not a biography on Amitabh Bachchan. It is a thriller.

Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the actress will play a crucial part in unveiling the mystery in the film. A source said Kangna loved the role and has given her nod. She will play a smart journalist in the film.

Although this is the first time that Kangna will share screen space with Amitabh Bachchan recently she bonded with the Bachchans during an awards function in Macau.

Pritish has interacted with Kangna on a couple of occasions. He and Kushan think that she is a gifted actress the source added.

Kangna who is currently shooting for a Telugu film in Switzerland remained unavailable for comment.

Police complaint against Ashwarya for illegal purchase of land

NASHIK: A police complaint has been registered against Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai and several others including Suzlon company Chairman Tulsibai Tanti for illegal purchase of land for setting up a windmill at Nandurbar district in North Maharashtra.

The complaint was lodged last night by Anand Lala Thakare who alleged that his land was purchased and illegally transferred in Suzlon company's name.

The actress is a shareholder in the company. The company is setting up a wind power project at village Dhandane in Nandurbar district.

Apart from Rai and Tanti the others against whom the complaint has been lodged are Mangal Surgeon Mohan Jawan Jayant Bhosale Anil Gangavane Sharansingh Siddhusingh Harish Panth district collector and share holders.

Suzlon has set up its project at Nandurbar and Dhule districts.

Neil: Katrina John and I are good friends

On his character in New York
My character is extremely important. Omar is one of the protagonists. He hasn't really witnessed life and he gets an opportunity to go and witness life. The transformation of a vulnerable boy to a man is shown in the film.

On his rapport with Katrina and John
We had a blast on the sets. We never realized we were making an intense film. We share strong on screen chemistry because off screen the three of us are very good friends.

I think amongst the three of us Katrina is the best dancer. She is versatile flexible and fit.

On Kabir Khan
Kabir is a great director. He is a National award winning director. If it wasn't for him the film wouldn't have been made. It is an intelligent film with strong characters drama life mystery and thrill. New York will even surpass Kabul Express which I think was brilliant. There is a message that Kabir has left at the end of the film. It will hit people when they see it. Any Indian would be proud watching this film.

On his career so far
I consider myself fortunate to have done such diverse films like Johnny Gaddaar Aa Dekhen Zara and now New York so early on in my career. These films have given a certain edge to my character and I feel responsible to deliver as an actor. The script is the most important thing for any actor. Characters can only work if the film works on the basis of a strong script.

On working with Irrfan Khan
It was an honour being in the same frame as Mr. Irrfan Khan because he is a legendary actor. He has surpassed all boundaries and reached international fame today. Just watching him act teaches you so much. He is an institution of acting in himself.

Love Aaj Kal's music rocks!

Love Aaj Kal is a film I can't wait to see. I also couldn't wait to get my hands on the music because Pritam and Imtiaz Ali created some memorable tunes (we still like them) when they got together for Jab We Met. Love Aaj Kal's music is fun vibrant romantic (of course) with bhangra and hip hop flavours with a tinge of country/folk and rock. Also Pritam had to compose for the Pyaar 1965 track and the Love 2009 track so hats off to him for pulling it off. No track on the album is intolerable. Our favourites are Aahun Aahun Twist Chor Bazari and Aaj Din Chadeya. This is the best album we have heard since Delhi-6 and Dev D. Go buy it!

Unlike Jab We Met you may not like the songs instantly but listen to them a few times and you will be hooked.

Twist is something we are all addicted to by now. The sapera been tune fits in perfectly. Neeraj Shridhar's vocal energy is unmatched. The rap vocals are reminiscent of Apache Indian. Pritam is brilliant with hip hop dance numbers and this one is no exception. It will set the dance floor on fire; even make you want to dance in your seat! The lyrics are very Punjabi like rounak-shounak wicked-shicked aankh-vaank daaru-shaaru etc. the step is easy too and Saif looks super cute in the video. Do the Twist! It's sure to be a rage at discos.

Chor Bazari has a nice guitar tune. It's a little like the relatively unknown but lovely Chori Chori Ankhiyaan from Race also because Sunidhi Chauhan and Neeraj Shridhar are the singers. It's a chilled out number. You imagine people having a beach or poolside party replete with thatched roofs beer and summery dresses when you listen to the song.

Main Kya Hoon has KK adding his magical touch to it. The beats are almost electronic so the song seems out of place on the album and it's like something you have heard before.

Aahun Aahun is another instant favourite with its guitar prelude (makes it a great ring tone). Love the Punjabi and tu aaja dil janiya bit (what you hear in the promo) throughout the song. It's a great club track too. It's a fast track with hip hop and Punjabi flavours. Pritam has done a superb job with this super energetic number you want to listen over and over again. Neeraj Shridhar and the Punjabi singer are excellent.

Aaj Din Chadeya sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is soothing after the upbeat and exhausting Aahun Aahun. It's a sweet and pleasant tune that will grow on you. I guess it is part of the ˜Pyaar 1965' track in the film. It conjures pictures of a turbaned Saif admiring Harleen in the mustard fields of Punjab.

Thoda Thoda Pyaar has the reliable Sunidhi Chauhan on the vocals. It has a nineties feel to it something Madhuri Dixit would dance to. A typical shaadi ka gaana that's not an assault to your ears.

Ye Doorian has a serene start with Mohit Chauhan's calming vocals. The song's likeable but it isn't magical like Jab We Met's Tum Se Hi which practically launched Mohit Chauhan. It's about lovers missing each other; wanting to erase the distance between them.

The remixes of Aahun Aahun Twist and Chor Bazari are nice. They are simple nothing over-elaborate.

Anil Kapoor apparently got upset with actor and good friend Akshaye Khanna and blasted him over the phone for not attending the promotional events of his home production Short Kut “ The Con Is On in which Akshaye is playing the lead.

Even though nothing has gone wrong between Anil and Akshaye Akshaye is said to have a problem with co-star Arshad Warsi and hence does not want to attend any promotional events along with him.

The film based on a rape incident was earlier titled Production 4 but the makers found the new title more apt following the case of Shiney Ahuja allegedly raping his maid. Obama leaves John hanging

As his film New York is all set to release John Abraham has a scary incident to narrate which took place during the film's shooting in the US.

Apparently director Kabir Khan wasn't too happy as there were not too many stunts in the movie. So he decided to shoot one particular scene and the location chosen a public building in Philadelphia.

On hearing this John said a flat no. But finally had to give in to Kabir's demand.

He had never imagined that he would be stranded on the 20th floor of the building for two hours because President Barrack Obama's was passing by with his entire entourage and for security reasons the entire area was shut down. The entire unit too had to go inside the building leaving John hanging from the cables on the 20th floor. He just had two suction pumps for his safety.

Finally he was rescued after two hours when the team was allowed to come out.

John said that shooting with Kabir is always an experience. He has previously worked with the director in Kabul Express.

A bollywood source tells us Yash Raj is in talks to sign Purab Kohli for a film. It is the one made by Parmeet Sethi with Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapoor. This one is also a musical like Rock On and Purab's comic performance in Rock On was highly appreciated. They think he will suit the youthful mood of this movie. He is a decent actor but he isn't a star.

He further adds Though last year's films featured big stars like Saif Ali Khan Shah Rukh Khan Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor this year's Yash Raj films have smaller or younger stars like John Abraham Neil Nitin Mukesh Uday Chopra (who isn't a star) and Rani Mukherji (her career is almost over) Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapur. The source tells us that Yash Raj is also downsizing as far as movie promotions are concerned. If you look at Tashan it got a lot of publicity because of Kareena's size zero figure then Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was publicized because of Amisha Patel's skin show and Rani attended several events to promote the film. Shah Rukh Khan went all out to promote Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi attending shows being available to talk featuring on magazine covers etc. As far as New York goes it wasn't promoted at IIFA though both Neil and Katrina were there and in Mumbai they are only doing press conferences and interviews. This weekend Priyanka Chopra was invited by the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) for their closing ceremony on June 21 where she became the first Indian actor to be presented with the festival's top award the Jin Jue award but she wasn't able to receive it in person.

Priyanka was very excited about going to China to receive the SIFF award. Unfortunately she had a relapse of her stomach infection so she has been advised against traveling.

Priyanka Chopra said I feel very privileged to receive this honor from the Shanghai International Film Festival. As an actor it is very encouraging to be recognized for your work. For me an award such as this on such a big international platform gives me an opportunity to present India and our cinema to the world.

Priyanka Chopra was the busiest actress in 2008. She had six releases: Dostana Fashion Drona God Tussi Great Ho Chanku and Love Story 2050 out of which Dostana and Fashion were super hits. He was written off after the debacle of "Chandni Chowk To China" and "8X10 Tasveer" but Akshay Kumar is back to entertain audiences with his full-on masala act in the action-thriller "Kambakkht Ishq" that experts hope will pull the industry out of the dumps.

"You would be foolish to write him off" said Anees Bazmee who has delivered two superhits "Singh Is Kinng" and "Welcome" with Akshay. "Don't forget that he is the same man who has been the darling of the masses and given so many back-to-back money spinners. He cannot be penalised for one 'Chandni Chowk To China' throughout his life."

After "Chandni Chowk..." Akshay suffered another setback in the form of Nagesh Kukunoor's "8X10 Tasveer".

"'8X10 Tasveer' was never meant to be blockbuster material to begin with even though critics insisted on calling it 'the Akshay Kumar' film. Also a terrible climax was the major reason for the film to flop not Akshay's acting. In fact he was the lone saving grace of the film" said a trade analyst.

In the much-awaited "Kambakkht Ishq" releasing on July 3 Akshay plays a Hollywood stuntman with an international set-up that boasts Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallon Denise Richards and Brandon Routh.

"This is a film for the masses but with a rich international feel to it that would break the mass versus class barrier" said Sajid Nadiadwala the man behind the multi-crore movie "We have the best of both the worlds in the film with Kareena Kapoor playing a supermodel. The Akshay-Kareena combination is the one to watch out for."

"Akshay is a superstar and he is here to stay. Let 'Kambakkht Ishq' release and we will see it for ourselves" said Sajid Khan who has roped him in for his second directorial venture "Houseful".

However the usual 'Akshay Kumar frenzy' is missing even though the film is less than a fortnight away from release.

"Let's not read too much into it. Akshay is too big a star to be worried about such minor things. And why are we forgetting that he is the same man who in the last three years has seen 21 films of his getting released out of which 17 have been hits.

"He is the most consistent actor star and a lot more than that. Just because one film of his doesn't take a kickstart as expected people out there have started making judgments" said Vipul Shah who directed Akshay in the hit "Namastey London".

As the countdown begins for "Kambakkht Ishq" Shah has the last word.

"I can recount 100 such cases when someone has been pulled down so badly. A few months back it happened to Himesh Reshammiya for 'Karzzzz'. Earlier after 'Saawariya' Sanjay Leela Bhansali was said to be finished.

"Hurman Baweja got to hear so much due to 'Love Story 2050' while after 'Drona' Abhishek was written off. This is sheer cynicism at play but mind you one film cannot make or break anyone. With 'Kambakkht Ishq' the industry would get the much-needed respite."

Kat prefers Neil John to Akshay

Katrina Kaif is often quite correct especially when she travels to promote her movies.

But when she came to Delhi recently there was a new funny zingy side to Kat. I've too much energy and I don't know what to do with it she proclaimed.

Since her co-stars this time are John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh is all that energy coming from the fact that she's finally working with people her age? I think so. It allows you to have a certain comfort level says Kat. When you're working with somebody so senior who has achieved so much and has done 89 films those backslapping moments aren't there. That does not mean that you have to backslap your co-stars not at all. But with actors my age our mentality is the same. There's the ˜been there done that' element with the seniors. So while I may be going yackety-yak and blah blah Akshay (Kumar) may just tell me ˜Oh Katrina please go talk to Jenny (his trainer from London)'. And there were times when I asked Akshay ˜Can I take Jenny with me?' And he was like ˜Please please go. For me. Please!' It's different when the person whom you're going yackety-yak with talks back to you and enjoys it. Your wavelength is the same she admits.

The two films that have been released after the producers' strike ended haven't had a very encouraging response. How does she think the audience is going to react to her film? See it can go two ways. One is ˜We've not gone to the cinema for so long why should we go now?' In which case I'll cry and you will see a Katrina-shaped hole in the pavement underneath any tall building. The other one is that the audience is hungry for a good film and you know me I'm not gonna do a film that appeals to a niche audience she says.

It's at that point that the organisers intervene “ it's been too long Kat needs to give more interviews we're told. But the new bindaas Kat doesn't think she needs to hurry. She just crosses two questions off our list “ one on Claudia Ciesla and the other on her having trouble dubbing for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani “ and continues. Is she planning her birthday party in London this year (the Shah Rukh-Salman spat happened at her birthday party last year)? I'm trying to. But now that so many people know about it I have this awful feeling that something is gonna happen. Something is going to get delayed or some shooting dates will be shifted and I won't be able to go! But I'm thinking of going with my sisters she says.

But to come back to the questions she scratched off our list does she really not want to say anything about Claudia the German model who's been linked to Salman? 'Coz Claudia's sure been saying nice things about her! I don't know what to say about her. If she's a nice person I'll take your word for it. I'm sure she is nice I have no idea! says Kat.

New York will sweep awards: John

John Abraham who plays an NRI Muslim in Kabir Khan's second directorial venture "New York" says the film begins where the critically acclaimed Pakistani movie "Khuda Kay Liye" ends.

"In its own strange way 'New York' begins where 'Khuda Ke Liye' ended. That's the interesting part of the film" John told IANS here. Both films deal with the issue of how legal detainees were treated after the gruesome 9/11 attacks in the US.

Some sequences in the promos of "New York" which will be released Friday are reminiscent of scenes in "Khuda Kay Liye".

"Each director has his own way of interpreting and researching the plight of legal detainees...that's why Kabir and the 'Khuda Kay Liye' director have different interpretations of it in their films" John said.

"But if the legal detainees were put up in a particular way and interrogated in a certain way in reality - then that can't change. So there are certain things that are bound to look similar in both the films. But obviously stories people and characters are completely different in 'New York'" he added.

John was here Monday along with co-stars Neil Nitin Mukesh Katrina Kaif and the director for the promotion of "New York" which is about post-9/11 prejudices in the US.

Set in New York the film's narrative is spread over nine years and revolves around three young friends whose lives take an unexpected turn after the terrorist attacks.

John who has teamed up with Khan for the second time after "Kabul Express" predicts that "New York" will pick up "every popular award in the book".

"When we were shooting in Afghanistan for 'Kabul Express' and bullets were flying off our heads I had told Kabir that you would get a National Award for this film. And he did get one (for best debut director). After watching 'New York' which is a very commercial film I told Kabir that he will walk away with every popular award that exists" said John.

After having spent over half a decade in the film industry the 36-year-old supermodel-turned-actor who was seen in a completely different avatar in Oscar nominated "Water" says he is yet to achieve what he had set out for through his work.

John's source of inspiration is late Hollywood actor Heath Ledger who got a posthumous Oscar for playing the Joker in "The Dark Knight".

"When Heath Ledger's parents came up to collect the Oscar award on his behalf after his death they said that Heath would be really happy because there was always this silent determination to be accepted by all of you as a fraternity.

"For me there is a silent determination to be accepted by everyone in the audience as a complete person and also a complete actor. I believe with the kind of roles and films that I have done I have probably reached 70-80 percent of what I had to. But the rest of crucial 30 percent is very important."

Now John hopes to do something "radically different that it affects and alters people's mind positively".

After "New York" which is produced by Yash Raj Films John will be seen in David Dhawan's comic affair "Hook Ya Crook" Nagesh Kukunoor's "Aashayein" and Abbas Tyrewala's "1-800-Love".

Salman is not his father's son

When it comes to script writing Salman is definitely not his father Salim Khan's son. After his last failed attempt at script - writing the actor has decided to sail uncharted waters again.

Salman's love for historical characters gave rise to the debacle that was Sooryavanshi the actor who wrote the script of the film had high aspirations of himself as a writer. The film was a pathetic rip off of Conan The Barbarian which tanked at the BO without a whiff in the air. With no original ideas Salman hadn't learnt his lesson and went on to make script changes in the film Baaghi (1990). The film did an average job and Salman went around town boasting even when the scene of him in a woman's underwear was a direct lift from a Hollywood flick.

Surprisingly Nikhil Advani was not the only one to blame for the disaster that was Salaam-e-Ishq. Salman Khan was the actual culprit who went on to make changes to the script of the film by coaxing the director to remake Love Actually; the actual script of the film was nothing close to the hit British film. We should have known!

Salman's upcoming film Veer is his baby alright; the actor who has written the script of the film had eventually wanted to direct it but roped in Anil Sharma to don the director's hat. Still the script isn't as original as one would think; it's an adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's Taras Bulba a romanticised historical religious novel.

Looking at Salman's scripting graph our sympathies with the audience and all those poor old investors.Salman is not sitting glum when not painting when not acting when not dating hot women; he's penning scripts we have to worry about.

Next Tuesday's public memorial service for Michael Jackson will be an event of "extraordinary" scope that could present unique challenges for the city of L.A officials said on Friday. Read on to find out how to get tickets to the memorial or watch it on TV!

Registration for the memorial tickets is taking place at the Staples Center Web site until 6 p.m. today. As of 5 p.m. on Friday 524330 people had registered for tickets to the Michael Jackson memorial service. Then on Sunday 8750 people will be chosen at random to receive two tickets apiece.

On "Larry King Live" on Friday night Kenny Ortega told listeners that he will be directing the program for the memorial service. He will meet with AEG about the program but he says his direction will be guided by the family.

Also on Friday L.A. City Councilwoman Jan Perry called the public memorial -- which takes place next Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Staples Center -- a special event "with the potential to impact public safety." She urged fans to consider watching the service on TV via a world-wide video feed being made available to the networks.

Tim Leiweke the president and CEO of sports/entertainment corporation AEG said 17500 free tickets are being released to the legions of fans expected in town. Eleven thousand tickets are for the service at L.A.'s Staples Center while 6500 more are for seats at the nearby Nokia Theater where the event is being simulcast.

Leiweke said no tickets are being sold and there will not be a funeral procession at the service.

'New York' gets good press in US

Washington: 'New York' the first big Bollywood film to hit America after the industry strike has won good reviews from US media with the New York Times praising its portrayal of problems faced by a Muslim minority.

"Indian films often deal with the problems faced by a Muslim minority. Transposed to the American context those problems continue to resonate" writes the influential daily about the film that opened across US last week.

"Kabir Khan's 'New York' looks at America after 9/11 through a Bollywood lens" and it's less distorting than you might think' it says. "The story which engages issues of ethnic profiling and terrorism hinges on loyalty love and friendship a holy trinity of Hindi cinema."

Irrfan Khan one of India's best-known and most respected actors in the West comes in for fulsome praise.

"While (Kabir) Khan's depictions of American life occasionally seem silly and the plot has some crater-size holes 'New York' is continually fascinating. It benefits from the performance of Irrfan Khan who adds layers of complexity to his character a Muslim FBI agent."

NYC Movie Guru says "talented Irrfan Khan" plays an undercover FBI agent "with utter conviction."

"What makes the film so engrossing is that the intricate screenplay humanizes" the characters it says "so that they're not merely cartoonish or stereotypical."

"With the exception of a few corny scenes that come across as awkward and contrived much of the plot feels captivating" Movie Guru says.

"Director Kabir Khan moves the pace along briskly includes a lively soundtrack and an appropriate musical score along with stylish cinematography.

"Screenwriter Sandeep Srivastava masterfully weaves a very suspenseful story that keeps you at the edge of your seat while tackling very provocative issues of post-9/11 racial profiling against Muslims."

Movie site rottentomatoes.com calls it a "fascinating film" which "in very intriguing and suspenseful sequences ...takes the audience in the plight of legal detainees' and "interprets and highlights the situations without bias."

As the film reflects of the tragedy of everyday life it uses the imagination of its audience in its feelings says the critic. "The crisp flow of action and explosive dialogue furthers the plot while contributing to its effect as a whole. New York is a solid dramatic movie that I found quite good."

Daughter of iconic actor Kamal Haasan sizzles in her debut film.

The latest star kid on the block Shruti Haasan is all set to dazzle the silver screen with her debut in Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision
Ltd.'s film Luck directed by Soham Shah.

And while there are newbies who shy away from sporting a bikini in their very first film Shruti seemed to be game for it!

Says the debutant "When Soham narrated the script I did not even consider the bikini thing as a big deal it was logical to the premise.

While shooting for it the weather was very weird that day. It was freezing cold but apart from that it was like any other scene in the film for me."

Informs the director Soham "Shruti did work out to get a toned body. She worked more hard to maintain it. We shot the sequence in Cape Town. The temperature was only two degrees. She had to brave the icy weather for the shoot."

The director also mentions "The scene involves Imran Khan Ravi Kishaan and Mithun Chakraborthy. Shruti was not at all apprehensive of wearing a two-piece swim wear as she was aware of it from before. The scene is totally justified as Ravi Kishaan's character pins his eyes on her."

The styling is done by the director's wife Binal Shah who is a fashion designer. She says "I bought a plain Bebe bikini that fitted Shruti perfectly. I then embellished it with mother of pearls in shades of green that matched the night pool ambience."

Well for a debutante Shruti's confidence and zeal are quite inspiring we must say!

Luck is an action adventure film that has been creating waves and arousing lot of anticipation from audiences for its daredevil stunts
and amalgamation of some of the finest actors of Indian Cinema.

Produced by Dhilin Mehta & Directed by Soham Shah the film marks the debut of Shruti Haasan (Kamal Haasan's daughter) and stars Sanjay Dutt Imran Khan Mithun Chakraborthy Ravi Kishaan Chitrashi Rawat and Danny Denzongpa. The soundtrack is composed by Salim Suleiman.

Luck is all set to hit theatres on July 24.

After making candy floss romances Karan Johar is dealing with serious issues in his My Name Is Khan which brings Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol together on screen after a long time. Though he is excited about presenting a different side of Shah Rukh making the film did turn unpleasant when actor Aamir Bashir was denied a visa to the US.

Karan's latest directorial venture is â€œdiametrically oppositeâ€ to his earlier films.

â€œYou know on the very first day of shooting my cameraman Ravi Chandran looked at me and said â€˜I don't think you've ever shot something like this'. Shah Rukh plays a completely different human being â€¦ I've never directed that person beforeâ€ Karan Johar told IANS in an interview.

But he had his share of problems too.

â€œYes there were problems. We had certain legal issues. We had to make some changes to accommodate the developments. They were sorted out. I believe in completely going by the law of every land. Q: You could make a film on the things that happened during your Los Angeles schedule of My Name Is Khan.

A: Besides normal problems there were unforeseen problems. Thank god for my fabulous technical team. Without them I could never make my film the way I want to. Yes there was stress.

Q: There were visa problems for some Muslim members of your cast?

A: Yes there were problems. We had certain legal issues. We had to make some changes to accommodate the developments. They were sorted out. I believe in completely going by the law of every land. That's what we did in LA when troubles arose.

Q: Was Aamir replaced by Jimmy Sheirgil after a great deal of deliberation?

A: Yes we did have to do some serious re-thinking. I spoke to my casting director Shanu Sharma for immediate release. I was very happy to have Jimmy Sheirgil on board. I had done his clothes for Aditya Chopra's Mohabbatein. So I know him from his debut. It was unfortunate that things didn't work out with Aamir Bashir. Like Jimmy he was terrific in A Wednesday. I look forward to working with him some other time.

Q: Were you upset with Aamir Bashir for going to the press about the visa problem?

It is for the first time I'm directing a screenplay I haven't written myself. This gives me a level of detachment from the proceedings and yet a lot of attachment. It has released a plethora of unexplored emotions in my head.

This time I'm being creative in a different ways. And Shah Rukh plays a completely different human being â€¦ I've never directed that person before. It took a few days for all of us to get into the groove. How this exploration of a new territory will turn out no one knows.

Arshad thinks joke on Michael Jackson not funny

Circuit actor Arshad Warsi has recently had a change of fuseâ€¦heart when he decided to have a joke on Michael Jackson removed from his forthcoming film Short Kut.

A source informs â€œArshad held a private screening of the film for his family and friends. It was just a day after MJ's death on June 25th. After he saw the film he realised that the pun on Michael Jackson was in bad taste.â€

He immediately called up his director Neeraj Vora and asked for the scene to be removed in view of Michael Jackson's sudden death and as a measure of respect.

Neeraj said â€œIt's tough to delete the scene as the final prints are out but we are working on making this change.â€

Apparently when Anil Kapoor who is the producer of Short Kut learnt of Arshad's concern he agreed to have the scene removed. He is reported to have said that his production could not be insensitive to MJ.

Although the scene is for comic relief it has turned into something else especially since MJ's tribute a day ago. Arshad sure knows how to respect his guru. Wasn't it MJ's moves that started his career in the beginning? Arshad initially wanted to be a choreographer more than an actor.

Better late than sorry we say he has done the right thing not only for MJ but for the film's good humour too at a time when crude humour is making waves.

Amitabh Bachchan hospitalised again

Complaining of stomach cramps actor Amitabh Bachchan is rushed to a hospital.

Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra Mumbai early this morning. He was complaining of stomach ache and this has been for quite a while. A source confirmed the same since this is the second time this year when he has had to be rushed in an emergency.

Very early morning at two am he updated his blog talking out his health and concern. He visited his doctor at Jewel Nursing Home in Juhu scheme Mumbai the evening before and then came back to write on his blog.

â€œI was due to travel out tonight but a small problem has arisen. I developed a pain in the stomach much like the one I got last birthday. And it happened just when I was getting set to leave from London. So I traveled home in order that I may be in a climate that understands my condition rather than stay back in alien country and subject myself to a medical from those that are unaware of my history. I drove straight to my doctor on arrival late last night and after some external physical examinations was subjected to CT scans this morning. The results do not show anything but the trouble exists albeit in a much smaller scale than the last time. Some more tests have been advised tomorrow. I have therefore postponed my travel until there is a fix on the problem and a possible line of treatment. I would not want to get moving again and land up in unknown territory and end up in hospital. Its disturbing to be in such state. Frustrating that despite extreme care a repetition of this problem keeps occurring. So medications and rest have been the order of the day with a prayer that there be no further complications.â€

He further goes on to define his present condition.

â€œSo many vein punctures and needles later. Many dosages of contrast consumption many injectables of radio resistant liquids intravenously into the system as you slide up and down in the confined cylindrical space of the CT machine your insides warming up as the fluid lines all the important organs I have finally been confined to the bed and â€¦ yes .. the TV.â€

He ends his blog post with â€œI rest now in the assurance that the tests tomorrow shall also be generous to me.â€

Rain cannot prevent Akshay Kumar from being punctual

The heavy rains on Saturday almost led the normal life to a standstill except Akshay Kumar who was not dettered by it. He was well aware of his commitments for the day and did not want the rains to spoil anything. During the day he was shooting at Goregaon Filmistan studios for De Dana Dan.

He had to reach Sajid Nadiadwala's office in Versova in the evening for a press conference of Kambakht Ishq. It was rainig very heavily and there was a huge traffic jam. Akshay suddenly caught up with an idea and decided to travel by bike instead of his car to Versova. He was already late and called his hair stylist Milan Jadhav to arrange for a bike a raincoat and a helmet for him. He immediately arranged for it and they zoomed off. Apparently if he would have travelled by car it would have taken him three hours to reach but he reached there in just 18 minutes in time for the press conference.

Earlier too Akshay always preferred to travel by bike rather than his ar to save on time.

From the fleet of Bentley limousines that transported his family to the endlessly fawning comments of television anchors throughout the blanket coverage Michael Jackson the late King of Pop got a send-off Tuesday that was fit for royalty.

As the 30-vehicle convoy left the Forest Lawns Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills it drove past dozens of broadcast trucks with several news helicopters buzzing overhead. Police closed the 101 Freeway to allow the procession easy passage to the public memorial in downtown Los Angeles. Traffic in the opposite direction also slowed to a virtual standstill as commuters halted their journey to catch a glimpse of the hearse.

As the procession drew up to the Staples Centre a high-flying plane drew a huge heart in the blue Los Angeles sky while fans screamed "We love Michael!" TV crews were set up on dozens of large podiums close to the entrance as the country's most distinguished news anchors from Katie Couric to Brian Williams led the coverage.

"We made so many sacrifices to see him one last time. We sold everything we had in our house" said one fan who journeyed for three days on buses from South Carolina to southern California to attend the memorial even though she had no ticket.

Inside the arena a large royal blue stage was erected at a basketball court that usually plays host to the Los Angeles Lakers. The backdrop featured a photo of a smiling Jackson looking up towards the sky and the words: "In loving memory of Michael Jackson King of Pop. 1958-2009."

A lavish gold-coloured programme featured pictures of Jackson with presidents political leaders and showbiz stars and tributes from his family and friends.

The elaborate service began with Smokey Robinson reading tribute letters from the likes of Diana Ross and Nelson Mandela. The backdrop then changed to an image of stained glass windows as Jackson's casket laden high with flowers was wheeled in. His pallbearers were each wearing a single sequined glove in a tribute to one of Jackson's signature styles as a gospel choir sang.

The elite of pop music performed tributes for Jackson from Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder to John Mayer and Usher.

"The title King of Pop is not big enough for him" said Berry Gordy the founder of Motown who discovered Jackson and guided his early career. "I think he is simply the greatest entertainer that ever lived."

But for some in the entertainment world the endless fawning and hagiography was a little much. Media columnist Brian Lowry could barely wait for the event to end as he blogged it live for entertainment trade paper Variety. He juxtaposed the reverential tones with the bizarre behaviour that Jackson often displayed and which "makes the worshipful tone characterizing much of this coverage even more questionable."

African American activist Al Sharpton in his eulogy for Jackson tried to explain the pop star's mass appeal. "You would have to understand the journey of Michael to understand what he means to us" said Sharpton.

"When Michael started it was a different world but because he kept going because he refused to let other people decide his boundaries he opened up the whole world. It was Michael Jackson who brought blacks and whites and Asians and Latinos together. It was MJ who made us say 'We Are The World' and 'Feed the Hungry'."

Only one reader of Variety commonly regarded as the Bible of the US entertainment industry bothered to post a comment - and he obviously did not agree with Sharpton. "A grotesque and vulgar display" noted reader Jack Henry of the ceremony. "The US is not only financially bankrupt but morally and culturally bankrupt as well. God help us."

In one of the biggest celebrity send-offs in history Michael Jackson's family friends and fans held a memorial service for the late King of Pop Tuesday as millions of people from around the world tuned in to watch on television and the internet.

The memorial service opened with soul great Smokey Robinson reading letters of condolence from Diana Ross and Nelson Mandela. Then Jackson's flower-laden casket was wheeled in accompanied by pallbearers each wearing a single sequined glove as a gospel choir sang.

"In his beautiful and very human heart MJ wanted nothing more than to give to the world and perhaps be loved back in return" said Jackson family pastor Lucious Smith. "Through his words his music and his countless good deeds Michael did so much to try to heal our world." Mariah Carey then sang one of Jackson's earliest hits "I'll Be There."

Other performers included Stevie Wonder Lionel Richie Jennifer Hudson and John Mayer. But the highlight of the service came when dozens of performers took to the stage for a rendition of Jackson's 1984 charity hit "We Are The World" and his follow up song "Heal The World".

Jackson's daughter Paris 11 in her first known public statement paid tribute to her father breaking down in tears as her aunt Janet Jackson tried to comfort her. "I just want to say that ever since I was born Daddy has been the best father you could imagine and I wanted to say that I love him very much."

Tributes were also paid by Berry Gordy the founder of Motown African American activist Reverend Al Sharpton basketball stars Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson the children of civil rights leader Martin Luther King and actress Brooke Shields.

The public ceremony followed a private memorial service at a Hollywood Hills cemetery after which Jackson's casket was loaded into a hearse for the procession to the Staples Centre where celebrities and fans entered the arena on a wide black carpet.

There were three notable absences at the services: Jackson's old friend Dame Elizabeth Taylor said "I love him too much to share my grief with millions of others." Diana Ross said she preferred to mark his death with silence while his former wife Debbie Rowe who may launch a legal battle for custody of the two children she had with Jackson said her attendance "would be an unnecessary distraction to an event that should focus exclusively on Michael's legacy."

Thousands of police were deployed in downtown Los Angeles prior to the service as the world's entertainment capital braced for the memorial of one of the greatest entertainers in history.

Police said the operation exceeded all past events in the city's history including the 1984 Olympics the Los Angeles Times reported. Officials had feared that as many as 700000 fans would gather around the arena and appealed to them to stay home.

Thousands of fans ignored that appeal and crowded behind the barricades that were erected around much of the downtown area surrounding the Staples Centre. But there were no reports of trouble as only an estimated 50000 fans turned up.

Over 1.6 million people applied for the 17500 tickets available through the online lottery.

Jackson 50 died June 25 from a cardiac arrest. A police investigation into his death is focused on the possible abuse by Jackson of prescription drugs and hospital sedatives.

Michael Jackson's daughter Paris had the last word at her late father's memorial service in Los Angeles on Tuesday - as she had the world sobbing for her loss.

The 11 year old took to the stage at the end of the tribute to join her aunts and uncles in remembering the King of Pop who died on 25 June.

And few were able to hold back tears as she cried "Ever since I was born daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine and I just wanted to say I love him so much."

Her father's golden coffin sat yards away from her at the front of the Staples Center stage where stars like Brooke Shields Usher Lionel Richie Stevie Wonder and Motown boss Berry Gordy paid tribute to Jackson.

Prior to her lasting remarks Jackson's siblings thanked fans for attending the memorial and added their own heartfelt messages to their deceased brother.

Marlon Jackson recalled identifying his brother in a record store - even though he was in disguise because he always wore the same shoes. He called his late brother "the voice of our angelic trumpets".

He broke down as he asked the King of Pop to hug "my twin brother Brandon" who was stillborn in 1957.

The deceased superstar's coffin was then wheeled out of the Staples Center by his brothers as an instrumental version of Jackson's Man In The Mirror was performed and a spotlight shone on a darkened empty stage.

Jackson family friend Pastor Lucius Smith ended the tribute show asking fans and friends around the world to join hands "in solidarity and remembrance of truly what Michael Jackson's music has done to us and what the man means in this place".

The Bachchans support going green but drive in gas guzzlers

During the recent award function for which Big B is a Brand ambassador the family was quite vocal about their concern for the environment.

Even though there isn't a ban or a regulatory control on SUVs in India; according to a recent bill passed by the United States the government plans to phase out oversized SUVs in order to reduce global emissions of carbon dioxide.

A industrywala says "It is funny how they talk about global warming and eco-friendly means of travel but when it comes to implementing it themselves they fail miserably."

India for decades has demanded at the UN climate negotiations that it must be given a greater 'carbon space' in the atmosphere to allow its 600 million poor access to electricity. Police asked to probe complaint against John Abraham

Bollywood star John Abraham could be in trouble as a city court Tuesday asked Delhi police to file a report on a complaint seeking registration of a criminal case against him for posing allegedly nude in a photograph published in a daily.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ashish Aggarwal directed the station house officer (SHO) of the Moti Nagar police station to submit the report to the court within two weeks.

"Since the complaint alleges commission of cognisable offences under Section 292 and 294 (relating to spread of obscene material) of the Indian Penal Code the SHO is directed to file his report within two weeks" the court said.

C.M. Dua who runs an NGO sought registration of a first information report (FIR) against the model-turned-actor as well as the publisher and the editor of the daily.

"....the lascivious prurient and obscene acts and photographs being published and shown by established members of society and publication house... tend to corrupt young minds which is very dangerous and suicidal for the coming generation if not taken care of" Dua said in his petition.

He said he was appalled to find the magazine supplement of the daily dated June 11 2009 carrying a "nude photograph" of Abraham at the study desk of his children.

Dua said police had not taken any action on his complaint prompting him to approach the court.

Arjun Rampal and Ranbir Kapoor my two other co-stars are also very good actors and my immediate aim is to raise the bar as far as my performance goes.''

Admitting that it was important just being a top hero's arm candy in movies like Welcome Singh is Kinng Partner and Race to consolidate her position in Bollywood she now wants to walk down the path of respected performers. Yeah Katrina knows the length of her skirt can carry her only this far. If she wishes to go further which she does she must stand up and deliver.

Madonna has been tipped to headline a special tribute gig in memory of tragic superstar Michael Jackson.

The King of Pop died unexpectedly after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home on June 25.

His death came as he was preparing to launch his comeback This Is It tour with a 50-date residency at London's O2 Arena starting in July.

After hearing of his shock death Madonna - dubbed the Queen of Pop - revealed she was planning to join her old pal Jackson on stage at one of his scheduled concerts.

Her manager Guy Oseary wrote in a Twitter.com post "A month ago Madonna told me she wanted to do a surprise performance at one of Michael Jackson's U.K. shows."

Now reports suggest the show will go on for the This Is It tour crew - plans are reportedly afoot to stage a replica concert of what Jackson had planned as a tribute to the late superstar.

And the Material Girl is being touted as one of the leading stars of the show which will see a number of artists perform cover versions of Jackson's huge discography according to MSNBC's The Scoop.

Plans are still in its initial stages but the concert is likely to take place in Los Angeles.

Promoters for Jackson's This Is It tour announced on Tuesday (June 30) that all ticket holders who had made their purchase with authorised agents would receive full refunds.

Michael Jackson was haunted by the fear that someone was trying to kill him in the final months of his life.

The pop superstar suffered a cardiac arrest and died on June 25 after reportedly taking a cocktail of prescription pills at his home in Los Angeles - but paranoia may have led to the pain of his final days.

Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman tells the upcoming issue of Life & Style magazine "He feared somebody wanted to kill him.

"He was concerned people would kill him to somehow try to take control of the Beatles back catalogue."

Reports suggest Jackson may have left the Beatles songs he owned to Sir Paul McCartney in his will. The catalogue of hits were one of the singer's leading assets.

Meanwhile close friends of the King of Pop have come forward with tales of the singer's final days suggesting Jackson had been ill for weeks before his death.

One pal tells America's In Touch magazine "He seemed to be taking a turn for the worse. Some of us suspected he was abusing powerful painkillers."

The source claims Jackson excused himself during a dinner party at a friend's Bel Air home in mid-June - and asked to lay down.

The friend adds "Michael was gaunt and had no appetite."

The Los Angeles coroner's office conducted a three-hour autopsy on Friday (26Jun09) and ruled out foul play in the Thriller star's death.

A final verdict will not be available for up to six weeks as officials await the results of toxicology neuropathology and pulmonary tests to determine the exact cause of death.

Jackson's family members have called for a second independent autopsy. The results are pending.

Memorial events likely to unite his one billion fans

Pop legend Michael Jackson's body could be displayed in a glass coffin to allow fans from across the world to say their final goodbyes to the late superstar.

The 50-year-old singer's family is discussing the possibility of placing his body in a see-through casket to allow his fans to say their goodbyes following his death last Thursday (June 25) reports contactmusic.com.

The idea has reportedly split his siblings and parents because his mother Katherine and father Joe are devout Jehovah's witnesses and according to the faith it is important to bury bodies quickly after death.

"The idea is causing internal stress within the family. The glass casket idea would create so much public interest it would take time to organise. People would make the pilgrimage from the other side of the world. The question that keeps coming back is 'What would Michael have wanted?'" said a source close to the family.

The family on the other hand are reportedly hoping to hold a global funeral celebration for one billion of the singer's fans.

Dozens of memorial events will be held in cities across the globe at the same time to allow everyone to unite for a universal celebration of his life.

A senior Los Angeles Police chief said: "We are preparing for an event of historic proportions. We will be co-operating closely with the family once they have decided where to hold the funeral."

His father Joe Jackson has however announced that the King of Pop's funeral will not be held until the results of the second autopsy are released as he suspects "foul play" in his son's death.

According to other reports Jackson's body will return to his former Neverland Ranch estate in Santa Barbara California for a public viewing on Friday (July 3).

Jackson bought the estate in 1987 and turned it into an amusement park. He moved out of the mansion in 2005 after local authorities swept through his private sanctuary looking for evidence to use against the singer in his child molestation case.

Following his acquittal he insisted he'd never return to live at Neverland but he retained a stake in the property up to his death.

Though funeral details are yet to be announced a private memorial service is scheduled for Sunday (July 5) according to CNN.

Rudy Clay the Mayor of the singer's hometown of Gary Indiana has publicly asked the Jackson family to consider burying or cremating the pop star in his birthplace.

Clay has told Chicago radio station WGN that he expects Jackson's body will be taken to Gary for a memorial service at Steel Works ball park he is planning for next week.

He says "I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary Indiana."

Clay's spokeswoman Lalola Burns tells CNN "The Mayor had spoken with a contact of the Jackson family and expressed our interest in having that to be a part of the history of this great family (sic)."

Jackson's father Joe returned to Gary in 2008 to discuss plans for a Jackson museum with the Mayor.

Rakhi Sawant went overboard when she announced that she would find her life partner through a reality show "Rakhi Ka Swayamvar". But now the outspoken actor renowned more for her voluptuous looks than acting skills says she is not doing it to hog the limelight.

"This (show) is not a publicity stunt or an entertainment show. All I can say is I am honestly looking for a partner with whom I can spend my life and who will love me for what I am" Rakhi told IANS in an e-mail interview.

"Like most other celebrities I have often been misinterpreted. The 'Swayamvar' will show the world the real me. Like any other girl even I have dreamt of a family a loving husband and a caring mother-in-law. I have all the qualities of an ideal wife" she added.

"Rakhi Ka Swayamvar" which premiered on NDTV Imagine on Monday ( has 16 men wooing Rakhi at Udaipur's Fateh Garh Palace. They will be put through a series of challenges to test their personality character physical fitness talent and also their compatibility with Rakhi.

All through the series viewers can help Rakhi decide by voting for or against the prospective grooms and the final week will present the wedding celebrations.

Rakhi who has played bit roles in films like "Main Hoon Na" and done item numbers in films like "Krazzy 4" and "1920" says her mother was one among the thousands of people who were shocked with her decision about marrying this way.

"Initially my mother was also in a shock just like everyone else. But now when I have explained it to her she understands my side of the story better. This 'swayamvar' is not just about me getting married it's about a girl's right to have an equal say in this big decision" she said.

In the first episode all contestants tried to show their better side to the bride-to-be but Rakhi who was earlier dating small time actor Abhishek Awasthi has her own set of parameters for her Mr. Right.

"Like any other girl I am expecting a suitable match for myself - I want my prince charming. Someone who would love me and take care of me and be with me in good and bad times. He should be someone who respects women appreciates my talent and allows me to work even after marriage. I'm looking forward to be a part of a family that loves and cares for me" she said.

As of now Rakhi is busy analysing the traits of each of the contestants while also trying hard to be at her demure best.

According to sources in the channel the show will not run for over a month.

When asked about her prospective guest list for the D-day Rakhi said: "We shall end up spending the whole evening if we start putting the guest list together. All I would say is that all my friends will be a part of the wedding."

They got him through his days and insomnia-riddled nights. And the people who gave them knew what they were doing. They should never have been around him" said Weisner.

"Those drugs and the 'Jesus Juice' - Michael's name for wine - began to claim him. I'll never forget the day at Neverland when he walked into the kitchen to eat. He was off his face he couldn't even bring the fork up to his mouth. It was like watching a clumsy robot. There he was one of the most talented guys on the planet unable to even eat because he was so doped up" he added.

Weisner joined Jackson in 1996-97 and says during that time also he used to take drugs.

"There were drugs then. He said they were for stress. I noticed those man-child qualities - the boy who wants to be loved on one side the business and musical genius on the other. And the drugs moved in to destroy both" he said.

"One day he sat down and just started to cry. He had $500 million in the bank and sold the biggest album of all time. I told him he had everything to live for. There was an inner melancholy to him. Once I asked about the pills. He said 'I get the best ideas when I'm in this situation'.

"He really thought the drugs made him creative when all they were doing was killing him. When paranoid on drugs he was scared social services would take his children away" he added.

I was actually drinking Tang not alcohol and I had to act drunk and dance on a table. All the truck drivers were sitting around the table. Then I had to fall and Saif was supposed to catch me but I don't know what happened and he probably blanked out at the last minute. Fortunately he caught my hand somehow and I didn't fall on my back and was safeâ€ she laughed.

Well we won't keep you guessing it's Hrithik Roshan. After a long deliberation Karan Johar has finally zeroed down on Hrithik for the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in his remake of Agneepath.

Hrithik was in two minds of stepping into Big B's shoes earlier also he was committed to Vishal Bharadwaj's untitled film after he completed shooting for Guzaarish. Due to which Karan Johar decided to bring Abhishek Bachchan on board as he had always wanted to reprise his father's national award winning role.

But now Hrithik has finally agreed a source confirmed â€œHrithik has now given a go ahead to the remake of Agneepath considering the universal appeal of the film. He is also keen to do Vishal's film but has for now put that film on the backburner. After Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film; Guzaarish Hrithik will start shooting for Agneepath.â€ To be directed by Karan Malhotra a good friend of Karan Johar's the original film was directed by the late Mukul Anand under Johar's production house Dharma Productions way back in 1990.

Still there is a lot of apprehension surrounding the film Raahul Anand the brother of the Mukul Anand who held all the production work for the original even went to tell StarBoxOffice â€œ"Agneepath is fresh in the minds of the people even today. The film is more like an encyclopaedia of Indian cinema and my brother Mukul had carried immense research before the making of the film. Govinda is back and this time it's him who's dishing out all the gyaan in Rumi Jaffrey's Life Partner. We gives you the first look of the laugh riot comedy.

While Salman Khan helped Govinda out with all the much needed love advice in Partner Chi Chi is doing the very opposite in this film. He plays a divorce lawyer in the film who doesn't believe in the institution of marriage. The movie also stars Tusshar Kapoor Prachi Desai Fardeen Khan and Genelia D'Souza.

Produced by Abbas-Mustan the film is a fun entertainer which has Govinda Fardeen Khan and Tusshar Kapoor playing thick friends but the trio have distinct views about the institution of marriage. While Tusshar plays someone who is a believer in arranged marriage Fardeen's character is far more flamboyant. For him being in love matters most and all he wants is a love marriage. As for Govinda he plays a pivotal fun character in the film who is a Casanova of sorts and doesn't believe in marriage at all.

â€œWhat you would see in Life Partner is something that happens to every husband and wife. My character is very conservative and traditional and believes in arranged marriage. It is about how he gets married and deals with married life. All the ups and downs in his life and relationships have been presented in an entertaining wayâ€ Tusshar told us.

In the film Tusshar Kapoor plays a Gujarati based in South Africa while Prachi Desai plays his Gujarati wife who originally comes from India. Genelia D'Souza is paired opposite Fardeen Khan while there is a surprise element around the name being paired opposite Govinda.

Extensively shot in South Africa Life Partner is slated to release on 14th August.

We caught up with the actress before she flew to London to be with her family.

Katrina wrapped up the shooting for De Dana Dan on Friday and boy was she relieved! The beauty tells us about the mishaps on the sets. â€œI finished shooting for De Dana Dan yesterday. We have had so many funny stories coming from the sets. The only thing that has been consistent is the amount of accidents that kept happening on the set. Everyone has got hurt. Akshay keeps saying that we have gone through so much physical pain and action while making the film that it will surely do well.â€

She wasn't an exception to the rule and endured several injuries. The leading lady said â€œI have gotten hurt four times. I hurt my leg and got sunburns I hurt my back really badly in the rain song when the saree shrunk and yesterday I hurt my neck. My back is still hurting but it's just a strain. The pain will go away and I am just grateful that we have finished shooting for the film. I am glad it's all over and I am alive in one piece.â€

Katrina is riding high on the success of New York. â€œI am ecstatic with the success of New York. I have said it several times but it's a really special film to me. The story was amazing and I connected to it instantly. Our director Kabir Khan is one of the nicest people to know and I wanted the film to work for him also. The success of a film like New York speaks volumes about the tastes of audiences. I am so glad it is doing wellâ€ she said flashing her million-watt smile.

In a first of its kind action in India Twitter has removed a fake ID of Shahid Kapur on grounds of impersonation. This came about after Shahid's publicist registered a complaint with Twitter for impersonation.

Since the last few months a fan had created a fake account through which he connected with Shahid's fans and pretended to be the actor.
A lot of people believed that it was the actor himself.

His fake profile grew from strength to strength with followers adding him to get his status updates. The impersonator on his part would discuss his upcoming film and his poll wins etc whatever was in the news about Shahid on any particular day.

The complaint to Twitter was made when the fan refused to part with the ID and continued to pretend to be the actor. Twitter responded within a week and disabled the fake account taking a strong stand against impersonation.
